Maggie Giuffrida has been a resident of Sierra Vista since 1995. Her family moved here from Demarest, New Jersey when she was seven years old. Maggie’s parents are Tom and Jean Giuffrida and she has one brother Richard. Maggie graduated from Buena High School in 2006 with a 4.0 GPA for her senior year. She is a member of the Who’s Who Among High School Students. Maggie is currently a sophomore at Cochise College where she is majoring in Liberal Arts and is a member of the National Scholars Honor Society. Her future career goals include obtaining a Journalism/Marketing Degree from The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City. One day you will read her articles in major fashion magazines!
Dance has been a huge part of Maggie’s life since she was eleven years old. She was a member of the Dance Fusion competition team throughout high school. She has competed numerous times and earned many gold and silver medals. Maggie’s performance credits include performing at the Arizona State Fair for three years in a row; Disneyland for their New Year’s Celebration; and in the Moscow Ballet’s rendition of the Nutcracker and Swan Lake. She has also been lucky enough to take dance classes from the famous choreographer Wade Robson, as well as some of the finalists from the show “So You Think You Can Dance”. Because of her passion for dance Maggie has learned the importance of being involved in extra-curricular activities and feels it is important to get other kids involved in after school activities as well. Maggie will use the title of Miss Sierra Vista to promote her platform: Encouraging Extra-Curricular Activities Among Today’s Youth. She believes that when children and young adults have something to be passionate about, whether it is a sport, club, or form of art they are more likely to become successful adults.
Maggie started competing in pageants when she was thirteen years old. She held the title of Cochise County Cinderella Teen 2002-2003 and has placed in the top ten at the Arizona State Cinderella Finals as well as in the Miss Arizona Teen USA Pageant. Maggie loves being on stage and performing. Pageants have always been a positive experience for her and that is why she has continued to compete in them throughout the years. She believes that they have made her a stronger, more confident and a well-rounded individual. She looks forward to serving her hometown of Sierra Vista as an ambassador, and more importantly she looks forward to being a positive role model for the youth of our community. She is very excited to have this opportunity to get her voice heard and to make a difference!
