Helpful hints and tips:

Your wardrobe does not have to cost a fortune, work with what you have and wear what makes you comfortable and confident. Bridal stores and other formal wear shops can be very helpful as well as Ebay and other pageant consulting sites.

•Interview: Pants or skirt suit, business formal. Hose and heels are important.

•Talent: Something you can move in and fits your talent presentation.

•Swimsuit: 1 or 2 piece suit of your choice. Avoid "boy shorts" or tankinis and make sure you are comfortable showing it off. Heels add height and make legs look longer but should be tan, beige or clear.

•Evening wear: A formal dress that you can move easily in. Accessories will add a lot to your look.

Platform statements should be short and to the point. The issue you advocate should be something you feel passionate about and have the desire to speak and educate others about . Some examples of platform issues include:

• the importance of organ donation
• diabetes prevention
• fine arts education
• promoting volunteerism
• healthy lifestyles
• community service
• sexual abuse awareness
• environmental concerns
• family issues
• mentoring
