The Miss Alaska Organization is a not-for-profit corporation established solely to provide contestants with the opportunity to enhance their professional and educational goals, and to achieve those pursuits with the assistance of monetary awards and tuition-based scholarships. This year, the top 10 contestants competing in the Miss Alaska finals received a one-year in-kind tuition waiver and Miss Alaska receiving a four-year in-kind tuition waiver from the University of Alaska. In fact, at the local and state competitions, over $119,000 in cash and in-kind tuition-based scholarships were made available to Alaska’s young women. A critical component of the over-all organization, this scholarship program enables recipients to apply these grants towards furthering their education and training which will greatly enhance the probability that they will achieve their ultimate goals. The scholarship fund is based on a rich scholastic tradition that has been the cornerstone of the Miss Alaska program since 1958.
